The European Commission has announced a €13.2 billion budget for the last year of its flagship research and innovation programme, Horizon 2020. This final tranche of the overall €80 billion Horizon 2020 budget is 6.4 percent higher than 2019. The commission expects the 2020 budget to be approved by the parliament and agreed in the EU council by November. Please read the full article.

On May 20, SIP Portugal organized two meetings - one with associations representing occupational health and one with scientific societies. The meeting was attended by: Ana Paula Rosa - Organização Internacional do Trabalho Diana Policarpo - Autoridade para as Condições do Trabalho Elisabete Roldão - Associação Portuguesa de Terapeutas Ocupacionais Natacha Pereira - Associação de Farmácias de Portugal   On the same day, SIP Portugal also organized a meeting with scientific societies composed of health professionals to present the recommendations on employability and education for chronic pain. Many SIP activities will happen at the bi-annual congress on 4-7 September 2019. In the year of its 10th Anniversary the Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) platform is organising an International Symposium on 7th November 2019 in Brussels in the concert Noble. A program is currently under development and will be later available here. The Symposium will have two main objectives: Working towards the implementation of the recommendations of the SIP Joint Statement, considering the new European political landscape and what it means for SIP; Strengthening existing SIP national platforms while laying the foundation for new ones   Registration of participants is now open on this website (link to be added)!
