New Report on Chronic Pain in Scotland
At SIP 2016 Professor Blair H. Smith, National Lead Clinician for Chronic Pain, presented an up to date summary of the evidence on the societal Impact of Pain in Scotland highlighting the need for Chronic Pain services.
One in five people have chronic pain, rates of prescriptions for pain medications have risen dramatically and people with chronic pain have poor general health, quality of life and ability to work as well as having increased chance of dying earlier.
