Chronic Pain – A disease in its own right
Ireland's Faculty of Pain medicine dedicated its annual meeting to the topic of "Chronic Pain - A disease in its own right and a major health care problem". Professor Michael Cousins from Australia and Professor Hans Kress from Austria were invited as keynote speakers during this meeting.
A recent study shows that almost one of every five European citizens has chronic pain, the economic costs is 300 billion a year.
The annual meeting of Ireland's Faculty of Pain medicine identified a range of ways in which the acknowledgement "Chronic Pain - A disease in its own right and a major health care problem" will be a benefit for patients, physicians and society.
