Pain care needs to be improved

"Green Club in Parliament": Eva Mückstein, health political speaker of the political green party demands quality standards and structural integration of pain management

Vienna. "Up to now the treatment of pain as a disease in its own right has not yet been implemented in the performance catalogues of the health insurances", thus comments Mückstein on occasion of the beginning of the annual congress of the European Pain Federation EFIC. "Existing pain clinics are closed down, without having taken care of alternatives in outpatient settings. What we lack of is a structural concept, according to which a stepwise medical pain care shall be developed. "
