Virtual meeting with the Office of Roberta Metsola

On the 7th of October 2020, the SIP team had the chance to meet virtually with the Office of MEP Roberta Metsola (EPP, Malta). The SIP team used this opportunity to discuss recent SIP updates including SIP’s key 2020 – 2021 policy priorities. They included:

  • Cancer pain policies (feeding into the EU Commission “Beating Cancer Plan” discussions and ensuring that the topic of pain is included)
  • Employment and social integration of pain patients (ensuring that the reintegration of workers with chronic pain is considered a European priority)
  • Pain and digital medicine (looking at the possibilities for recording and measuring pain, better self-management approaches, the spreading of expertise and care networks to remote areas and other related subjects)

The SIP team also had the chance to share the SIP Cancer Pain Position Paper. The SIP team thanked MEP Metsola for endorsing the SIP Joint Statement and looks forward to continued dialogue and collaboration with the Office of MEP Metsola.
