SIP Europe and SIP Portugal featured in Madeira
The XIV Atlantic Islands Pain Forum took place on 4-6 April in Funchal, Madeira. The event featured workshops, debates, symposia, panel sessions and practical courses that discussed "state of the art" in the treatment of pain from a multidisciplinary perspective. It attracted about 300 participants.
A dedication session on the Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) took place in the morning of the 6th, with participation of Dr. Jose Antonio De Vera, Honorary President of the Forum, representatives from Madeira public authorities as well as health care professionals and patients. Tadeusz Hawrot represented SIP Portugal in this Conference and gave a presentation on current priorities and achievements of SIP Europe as well as activities that have been carried out by SIP Portugal in 2018 and so far in 2019. His talk was complemented by an intervention of Dr. Maria Teresa Flor de Lima who discussed in details priorities included in the SIP Joint Statement.
