Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) Activities at EFIC Congress

from 3-7 September 2019 in Valencia, Spain

Relevance of EFIC Congress 2019 for SIP

  • The biennial EFIC congress is an important event to bring different stakeholders in the area of pain together (healthcare professionals, patient representatives, industry and others)
  • The topics of the Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) receive increasing attention from these stakeholder groups
  • EFIC 2019 is a great opportunity to raise awareness of the relevance that pain has on individuals and society and to share the SIP policy recommendations
  • For the first time this year, the SIP national representatives will meet to share their experiences on how to build a SIP national platform with relevant stakeholders and how to identify their priorities

SIP national platforms workshop on 3 September (17:00-19:00)

  • Workshop takes place right after the EFIC Council
  • About 20 participants from SIP EU and national SIP Platforms expected to join this meeting
  • Purpose is to share experiences from the SIP National Platforms (currently 8), to launch the SIP Toolkit, to start the National Pain Plan survey and to align SIP presentations at the EFIC congress (a detailed agenda is under preparation)
