Report from SIP France Round Table meeting

Aude Alfonsi – SIP France, France

Under the scientific responsibility of the French medical pain society (SFETD), "Societal Impact of Pain in France" organized a lunch-debate on the course of care of the painful patient in the Auvergne Rhone Alpes district on February 15, 2019, with the support of Lyon Hospital, host of the Event.

It aims to spread at territorial level the national debate initiated last October at the 1st National Forum against Pain, held under the patronage of Agnès Buzyn, at the Ministry of Solidarity and Health.

During this debate, about fifty participants, representatives of the public authorities, health professionals, social actors, and patients exchanged on the challenges of the pain care pathway in the district and on the initiatives that could be developed to address them, especially in the most vulnerable populations to improve the diagnosis, assessment and management of the painful patient in his or her health pathway.

Participants were also able to attest to the daily difficulties in taking care of painful patients and the initiatives implemented by their organizations to address them. The meeting was also an opportunity to express their expectations of the public authorities to strengthen the management of pain.
