How to build powerful SIP National Platforms?
Pain puts a serious burden on individuals and society. The European Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) platform is a multi-stakeholder platform which has been established in 2009. SIP has been demonstrated to be extremely successful, for example with the selection as a Thematic Network on the EU Health Policy Platform in 2018. SIP Europe has now started to establish
SIP national platforms following the same model and have succesfully built 8 platform so far: Belgium, Finland, France,
Ireland, Malta, Portugal, Spain and the Netherlands.
The successful approach of SIP at EU level is now implemented on member state level as well to tackle the societal impact of pain. More SIP National Platforms are expected to start soon. On 7 November, the SIP community will celebrate its significant achievements in the past 10 years at the SIP 2019 Symposium in Brussels. This will be a great opportunity to share the experiences from the SIP National Platforms and to inspire other countries to follow their examples.
The methodology to build national SIP platforms will be presented on Wednesday, 4th September as part of the poster sessions.
