SIP Thematic Network

Vittoria Carraro – European Pain Federation EFIC, Belgium

The European Commission has given Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) the opportunity to make the SIP Expert Group, on the EU Health Policy Platform, a “Thematic Network on SIP”. Ten groups have applied for a thematic network and only four of them will be selected. The survey has been closed on December 7th and SIP has been on the second position with 95 votes which is a great result. The final decision will be announced by the European Commission still in December.

What does this mean?

  • Within the EU Health Policy Platform, the SIP Expert Group will move into the public domain. This means that stakeholders will not have to register anymore to see the platform’s content – which will enable greater public outreach!
  • In addition, the content of the platform will feed into a draft joint statement – a useful tool in pushing the Commission into legislative action on the issue of Pain.

We want to thank all endorser of the SIP initiative who have voted for SIP as a Thematic Network!
