In Germany around 3.25 million people suffer of chronic pain. Despite important progress their medical care needs to be improved significantly. This is the result of the Barmer GEK medical Report 2016, based on valid figures on the basis of health insurance data.

"Chronic pain is a distinct disease that must be treated very specifically. With millions affected combating chronic pain must become a national health goal" urged Dr. Christoph Straub , CEO of Barmer GEK , when the study was presented February 23, 2016 in Berlin.
