12th edition of the Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) newsletter

Prof. Bart Morlion – Multidisciplinary Pain Centre of the University of Leuven, Belgium

Dear Reader,

On October 4th about 50 experts representing different stakeholder groups and countries attended the Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) Steering Committee in Brussels to review the impressing achievements of the SIP platform in 2017 and to define the strategy for 2018. There was a general consensus to build on and learn from the successes in Europe by establishing activities at a national level; going into member states to initiate or build on existing platforms and collaborations.

Further, we are happy to announce that the Social Impact of Pain (SIP) Expert Group, hosted on the EU Health Platform of the European Commission, went live in October. This is a great opportunity for the SIP platform to exchange, compare and benchmark evidence and best practices on pain management and its impact on the society. Please join us and become member of the Expert Group! In addition, the European Commission has given us the opportunity to make the SIP Expert Group a ‘Thematic Network on SIP’. Please support us and vote for SIP until December 4th!

Sincerely,

Prof. Bart Morlion
Director of the Multidisciplinary Pain Centre of the University of Leuven, Belgium
