Meeting of the MEP Interest Group on Brain, Mind and Pain
Launched in 2015, the MEP Interest Group on Brain, Mind and Pain is an initiative of the European Federation of Neurological Associations (EFNA) and Pain Alliance Europe (PAE). It focusses on the below themes in an attempt to improve the quality of life of all those living with brain, mind and pain disorders across the EU, as well as their families and carers:
- Eradicate stigma, isolation and discrimination
- Ensure equitable access to treatment, services and supports
- Promote patient empowerment for increased involvement and engagement
The meeting will take place on November 6th in the European Parliament from 12:00 – 14:30. It will will focus on "Ensuring equitable access to treatment, services and support".
On this occasion, the meeting will be used to discuss the challenges facing patients living with neurological disorders and chronic pain conditions in terms of access to treatment, services and support they require. Also at the meeting will be officially launched RETHINKING MS, a project which aims to drive tangible policy changes in health and social care to improve the lives of people living with Multiple Sclerosis across Europe. A case study on Multiple Sclerosis will be presented and discussed and the following panel discussion will be moderated by the Executive Director of European Brain Council (EBC), Frederic Destrebecq.
The Members of European Parliament will be welcomed by the President of Pain Alliance Europe (PAE), Joop van Griensven and the President of European Federation of Neurological Associations (EFNA), Joke Jaarmsa. The meeting will take place over lunch at the European Parliament, Brussels on Wednesday, 6th November, in one of the Member Salons.
